On the surface, employees in their 20's might not seem to have much to offer to a seasoned IT organization, but in fact, they bring something very different--and very critical--to the staff. Because they have grown up in the digital age, they understand the Internet intuitively, and they know how to make it bend to their will quickly. They also have grown up collaborating technologically, and they expect a shared, collaborative experience in the workplace as well. These facts make them particularly useful in IT organizations, especially those with complex user interfaces or fast-paced development environment. The problem is that the environment rarely offers them a way to collaborate in the way they have become used to, and as a result, many of them leave within a year. By making your environment more collaborative and responsive, you'll be able to retain this bright talent.
