Hiring replacing cost management as CIO focus
There's a shift happening with the focus of CIOs, says a research firm, in which last year's focus on managing costs is now being replaced with one on shoring up internal tech skills and head counts come 2007. Along with that hiring increase will come IT salary hikes as tech leaders grapple with the skills shortage taking place due to various factors, such as the retirement of babyboomers currently in the workplace. Industry analysts say good salary and incentive programs are key to luring and keeping talent on staff.
