Google's Chrome defies hackers
An attempt by security experts to discover and exploit unknown vulnerabilities in Internet browsers left Google's Chrome as the clear winner. At a conference in Vancouver last week, fully patched versions of Firefox, Internet Explorer 8 and Safari were exploited. But Tipping Point, a leading provider of network-based intrusion prevention systems and sponsor of the event, said only Chrome was able to fend off the assaults, says Top Tech News.
As part of the contest, all the information about the flaws was turned over to the vendors. According to Top Tech News, one participant was able to take down Safari on Mac OS X within two minutes. Although Chrome led the pack, Gartner Research Director Ray Valdes said Internet Explorer is not in any near-term danger of losing its corporate-sector strength. He noted that the browser is only one element of a total enterprise setting.
