Google, Yahoo and Microsoft slammed for foreign censorship
Reporters Without Borders, a Paris-based group, has some unkind words for the American technology giants Google, Yahoo and Microsoft. The human rights organization, in a new report, said the firms have been too cooperative with governments that want to censor their citizens. The group cited China for its online censorship and Egypt for jailing bloggers, and pointed to other countries that crack down on free speech, reports BusinessWeek.com.
Clothilde Le Coz of Reporters Without Borders said it is time for the companies to stop cooperating with "enemies" of the Internet. She said the three American companies are aware of what is taking place, and should be more proactive in protecting their users from repressive governments.
