Getting telework up and running efficiently
Given the federal government's push to increase telecommuting within its agencies, it makes sense that the General Services Administration should chime in publicly, giving IT leaders a sense of what telecommuting requirements and costs should be. A new GSA study does just that, analyzing what's currently taking place within 20 agencies and also listing the various benefits that such technology provides. Since telecommuting programs are mostly adhoc at this point, many tech leaders have little idea of the actual costs involved. To alleviate this problem, the report offers up a model that can be used to identify true costs and also recommends equipment, services and infrastructure for supporting, and hopefully, expanding telework initiatives.
