Get out of your comfort zone

Too many IT departments are stuck in a rut, hanging on to tried-and-true technologies instead of taking chances with new solutions. That kind of attitude leads to stagnant systems and employees--not exactly the best way to create a forward-thinking technology powerhouse. Get out of your comfort zone and take some risks and allow your IT staff to try innovative ideas and technologies without repercussion, says an InformationWeek study. Don't be afraid of failure, the study says, but know when to pull the plug.
