Facebook and Twitter scams on rise
Social networking thieves are getting much more sophisticated. A recent survey released by AVG Technologies and the Chief Marketing Officers Council found that nearly half of the 250 users polled had been victims of malware infections and 55 percent have been subjected to phishing.
Yet, incredibly, most users rarely change their passwords or adjust their privacy settings. And 90 percent fail to report security issues to the social networks. Here are a few scams to watch out for, according to CSOonline.com:
- Tweet for cash. Forget about this bogus offer.
- Ur cute. Message me on MSN. A phony one for sure.
- Protect your family from the swine flu. Don't believe it.
- Amber alert issued! Ignore this one.
