Does Twitter work with your business model?
People are tweeting all over the Internet--at work and at home, day and night. It's replacing IM and blogging, not to mention that old-fashioned tool called email.
There are 14 million Twitter users per month, compared to 91 million monthly Facebook users, according to InfoWorld. Social media is here to stay, and businesses need to figure out how to use it in a way that moves their company forward. According to the article, Twitter can be used by businesses as an evaluation tool and to monitor customer/employee reaction to a new product. First, companies should make sure staff knows how to use Twitter and consider the security implications before workers launch their own Twitter accounts.
Be forewarned, Oliver Young, a senior analyst with Forrester Research told InfoWorld, "For an IT department looking for an [internal] communications tool, Twitter is not the most appropriate tool."
