Dell stays married to direct model approach

In an initiative to increase laptop market share, Dell is taking a gamble that could either help or hurt the vendor. While most laptop vendors currently outsource laptop manufacturing, Dell is keeping it in house, just as it has with its longtime desktop PC manufacturing process. It's a decision that industry experts say could work in the vendor's favor, as it allows Dell to provide a level of customization that other vendors can't match.
