Defending against intellectual property theft
When it comes to protecting intellectual property no security plan is too expensive and no one tool can do the trick. As a former CIA leader and security expert points out, the biggest problem with protecting such valuable corporate data is that executives often don't realize how critical such an effort is. That's why it typically falls on the IT leader to educate other executives and then lay the framework for putting a strong defense system into place. The threats to intellectual property are varied--you have competitors and insiders who want it as well as the malcontent elements trying to steal or destroy it. What you need to do is evaluate what you have in place and whether or not it's enough to keep data safe.
