Data snatchers not leading ID thieves

A year-long study reports that while more computer break-ins and data thefts are happening, ID theft is more likely to occur if the info is gleaned from a stolen wallet or purse. The report, by analyst firm Javelin Strategy & Research, claims data breaches were responsible for only 6 percent of identity theft incidents, compared to 30 percent from lost or stolen wallets.
