Data centers: Growth or stagnation?
A new survey of data center executives suggests that budgets may be increasing despite the tough economic times. Digital Realty Trust, a firm which offers a variety of data center products and services, said a survey of 300 senior IT executives found that four out of five companies are planning data center expansions in the next year to two years.
NetworkWorld.com points out that this upbeat outlook contrasts with a recent study by the AFCOM Data Center Institute, which found that many data centers are delaying or canceling planned physical expansions and relocations. The new survey, however, said data center space requirements are growing and companies are increasing their data center budgets.
"This is a reflection of how companies view their data centers as critical assets for increasing productivity while reducing costs," Chris Crosby, a senior vice president at Digital Realty Trust, said in a press release.
