Competition ignites EDS business plans
Business is tough for pretty much anyone these days, but IT outsourcers are feeling the heat--despite statistics that show more enterprises are grabbing services and off-shoring non-critical IT work. One of the outsourcing industry leaders, EDS, is in particularly rocky shape as it didn't go offshore fast enough and competitors are taking huge chunks of its client base and revenue stream away. But the firm is quickly making up for those business stumbles--spending over $300 million for an Indian-based services company and aiming to pump up its India workforce from just a few thousand staffers to over 20,000 employees by the end of this year.
