CIOs reporting to CFOs: Not a pretty picture
According to a CIO survey of more than 500 IT leaders, having the CIO report to the CFO destroys value in nearly every possible way. Not only does it provide CIOs with less exposure to other C-level execs, CIOs who report to CFOs spent more time on tactical issues and less on strategic ones. What's more, they spend more than their fair share of time on compliance issues, have lower budgets at their disposal--as well as less budget control--and have less personal involvement in the running of the business.
