The CIO must not be a 'Luddite'
Every CIO must know how to multitask. It's not enough to throw up a firewall and prevent hackers from getting in the door. Today's CIO must also know about the endless virtual world that may enhance his company's website and help present his business to customers. That means that the web's outlets for self-expression are endless. And a company that does sell its wares online with the help of blogs and other social networking devices is not taking advantage of what is out there. At the end of the day, the CIO must be ready to be creative, in order to help put the best face forward for his company. Not only that, the tech tools available are also becoming endless. And even in the most serious of cases--e-discovery for example--the CIO must be the custodian of all technology in whatever format. Otherwise, he might be branded a "Luddite."
