Changing roles of CIOs and CFOs
There are plenty of changes taking place in the enterprise, especially if you are the CIO. For starters, the needs and demands of the CFO are spilling over to the CIO and the IT department. The CFO and CIO must now work hand-in-hand with the CFO to keep the numbers straight.
In addition, many companies are now evaluating CIO performance based on the business results that their technology investments deliver. It's important that your department be efficient. There's a long list of ways that CFOs and CIOs can work together; here are some pointers from Enterprise Management Quarterly that could help:
- Develop a cross-functional team in technology decisions: The CFO, CIO and business users.
- Implement a shared services model to standardize best practices, improve processes and save money.
- Identify and measure improvements in key performance indicators. This will help you take small, incremental steps toward improvement.
