Case study: Airline goes full throttle toward SOA
The European-based airliner Airbus is undertaking a major service-oriented architecture (SOA) effort. Their goal is to develop a new Web-based travel services management system to gain operations efficiency and cut costs related to the current paper-based management approach in place today. But that's just the beginning of expected benefits. The airliner hopes to boost integration with new services providers down the road and tie the new system into other SAP systems in the human resource and financial units in the business framework.
