Outsourcing is on its way out and insourcing is coming back as a result of the global economic recession, outsourcing scandals and the decreasing benefit of outsourcing IT work, according to experts.

A recent Gartner survey found that only nine percent of CIOs are planning to increase IT outsourcing this year. Many surveyed are considering insourcing previously outsourced functions. It's hard to tell if this trend is reversing a practice that has been unfolding for several years, but with President Obama's pledge to keep jobs at home instead of sending them overseas, this reversal may have the White House completely behind it.

Only time will tell if companies are seeing their bottom lines improve without outsourcing or whether they will revert to old practices in order to save costs.
