If tech leaders aren't aware of how blogs have become a major communications tool--and bring along the same security and potential corporate headaches linked with email and instant messaging--this week's incident in which a professional sports team owner was fined for blog comments should wake up those not paying attention to the issue. Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban will be ponying up a hundred grand for a blog item about NBA officiating. While the team can certainly handle the fine, it's a good lesson to other enterprises who may find a similar situation hurting the bottom line.
