NeuStar, a clearing house for the Internet industry, is planning to sell one-character domain names to add to the .biz extension. The bids for the one-character names are due to NeuStar on July 30. They could include the letters A through Z as well as numbers 0 through 9 with the .biz name.

In August, NeuStar will begin selling two-character domain names that will allow companies to include company names, stock symbols or states--such as Arizona purchasing www.az.biz.

The .biz domain is the first top-level domain to get approval from the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers to sell one-character domain names, reports NetworkWorld. It has more than 2 million domain names registered, and demonstrates how the Internet continues to expand at a rapid pace.
