Backups can thwart malware ransom scheme
The dawn of a new work week brings a new security issue for enterprises. This time it's a Trojan that steals data, files, or other valuable information and then ransoms it to the owner. According to security vendor Sophos, the malware, being called Ransom-A by the antivirus company, first displays explicit images and then a message pops up demanding $10.99 in payment or files will begin being trashed every half hour. It's the second malware of its kind to appear and experts advise enterprises and users to back up data and update security software to avoid being a victim.
