Asset management grows up
The Next Generation of Asset Management is here to stay. And it will change the way CIOs have been managing assets. For starters, it considers service as a product and provides a sharp system to manage it from a lifecycle and business planning perspective. If you are not ready, you are not with it. It's important for CIOs to recognize that IT services must deliver performance costs and quality. The next generation will mean new organizational and political models, and will mean viewing asset management as an integrated component of your IT system and not an island. It's a good time to rethink your strategy and start fresh in the New Year. Right now, the next generation may simply mean merging your inventory with other asset management tools. But down the road, it is likely to mean linking your assets to their value and the value that it provides as part of the total IT network.
