Assessing your IT architecture

To perform a thorough IT architecture assessment, first collect and analyze documents and conduct informal interviews of executives and key players in the organization to identify current business challenges. Second, identify the current architecture framework in a way that illustrates the relationships between data, functions and platform components. Also, develop inventory for existing data, functions, applications and platform components. Third, analyze your information to identify business problems, gaps and opportunities. Fourth, test the information and compare it to current processes, measurements and organization readiness. For example, is your organization extremely change-averse? Do you have buy-in from key players?
