Are you worried about growing cybercrime?

Every day brings news of some computer attack and data breach. And every year, the number of intrusions and thefts increase as projections of economic loss goes skyward. So how worried should a CIO be about these trends and threats? Well, it's clear that every network needs protection and managers must be vigilant. But not everyone views the problem or the daily headlines in the same light.

Jeff Keahey, CIO at Wardlaw Claims, a Waco, Texas property and auto claims adjuster, tells Network World he pays attention to the issue, but believes some of the alarm is created by security companies seeking to hawk their products. In the Network World article, Adam O'Donnell, director of emerging technologies at Cloudmark, a maker of email security products, says broad-based statistics don't mean much to him. The important measure, he said, is his company's own internal data.
