Do you think you are a workaholic? While many CIOs and other IT executives think that work is the center of their lives, more and more Americans are saying that work is not their life, according to a new Monster.com survey. The online poll, conducted from Jan. 1 to Jan. 7, asked people in the United States, the United Kingdom, France and Germany to choose the phrase that best described their lives: "I work to live" or "I live to work." And the surprising results? Nearly 80 percent of American respondents selected "I worked to live," while only 22 percent selected "live to work." Norma Gaffin, director of content for Monster.com., says Americans of all ages are learning something about life from Generation Y. "There's so much pressure [for Americans] to be defined by their work," she says. "We're learning from Generation Y that work isn't all there is."
