We all know that the economy has made things tough right now, especially for technology. But there is also a silver lining for tech types willing to be entrepreneurial and look for ways to manage their IT shops more efficiently.
This week, we report on a survey that suggests that many companies understand the importance of data centers. Many companies plan to expand, not contract data center plans, even with the recession in full swing. Amazingly, more than four out of five companies surveyed are planning data center expansions in the next year or two. The survey also found that data centers are growing by 16 percent a year.
We also report on an article about cloud computing. Yes, it's helping companies save money, streamline operations and spur jobs, but for some companies it could lead to job loss. In this tough economic climate, there will be some winners and many losers, and different ways of approaching problems and financing. But at the end of the day, technology is likely to emerge stronger and deliver a better product. - Judi
