Are telecommuters worth the extra cost?

This week, we report on a Cisco study that finds it costs money to protect the security of remote workers. No surprise there, seeing as nothing is free.

But in the case of remote workers, the investment is a wise use of resources. There are plenty of reasons to encourage working from home, including  better productivity. Change is always tough, especially when it runs against what you have always known.

Most tech sector executives already know that remote workers can be worth their weight in gold. They are not out tending the garden. So when it comes to the bottom line, a remote worker may be what your company needs rather than a disgruntled worker who is watching the clock and anxiously waiting for the day to end. -Judi

I am a telecommuter that has been working out of my home for 7 years, I tell ya, I would not want it any other way... I work evenings if I have urgent issues to tend to and get the job done!

I am a telecommuter that has worked out of my home for 3 years now. Not only do I save money on gas, lunches, cosmetics, clothing, etc, but also my company gets twice as much work out of me than if I were in an office with continuous operations. Like the other commentor, I also work evenings to resolve urgent issues and read emails. I would not trade this for anything!!!
