AOL denounced for search info release
AOL is busy issuing a huge mea culpa for posting search engine information of 658,000 users on a research Web site, but critics and especially the blogsphere are hammering the security breach was much more critical than the "screwup" description given by AOL. The data was contained in a 2-gigabyte file of search queries that included names, telephone numbers, addresses and of course, social security numbers. AOL says it's investigating how the data got within public reach but critics are worried the data is still accessible and could be used by law enforcement or by malcontents.
