Anti-spam effort ignites spammer retaliation
All Blue Security wanted to do was thwart spam attacks. But the Israeli security firm ended up becoming a spam target, and its list of users who signed up for a "do not spam" list ended up being under attack as well. The spammers are being pretty nasty in this instance, sending out extortion emails that promise to continue the deluge unless they sign off the registry. CEO Eran Reshef says it's the work of a Russian spammer and that customer information has not been compromised in the attack.
