An alternative to using VoIP

If your telecom costs keep climbing and you're looking for ways to save while providing corporate road warriors with stable and strong telephone service outside the building, then you might want to look at using softphone technology. You don't have to do a huge Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) roll out, and you'll get the same cost savings that VoIP provides. As some big companies, including Nissan, are discovering, the IP telephony option for today's laptops can save some big bucks. The way it works is that the softphone clients are configured for connecting into a large PBX that then pushes the call into the company LAN via VPN and access IP cards.
