You've heard of that person: The gold-plated CIO whose compensation is in the millions. Business Week took a good look at who they are and listed them for all to see. Don't be too jealous, because their jobs come with plenty of pressure. Then again, so what? We bet yours does too!

Randall Mott, CIO of Hewlett Packard, took home more than $24 million in 2008, when you add up base salary, bonus, payouts from non-equity incentive plans, stock awards and other compensation, according to Business Week. Mott was the most highly paid CIO of a public company, according to Equilar, Inc., an information services firm specializing in executive compensation.

Mott was by far the leader of the pack, but others on the list rested comfortably in the millions as well. Robert Willett, CEO and CIO of Best Buy International, took home a total of nearly $10 million. Joseph C. Antonellis, vice chairman and CIO of State Street, took home nearly $9 million.

So what do you have to do to take home that kind of income? It's so far above most of us, that we cannot even imagine. Nevertheless, we wish we could give you a primer on how to get from here to there.

As the Obama administration starts to look at executive compensation for companies getting stimulus money, the fallout is likely to spill over to high-paying CIOs, even if they are not working at companies that have received federal money.
