2010: A good time to start an IT security career
You may be plotting your next career move or what certification you should get to make you more marketable. Many IT execs are saying it's time to turn to information security for your next stop on the IT career ladder, says Tom Field from GovInfoSecurity.com.
As people come up for air from the recession, Field says the opportunities in IT security are endless. Cybersecurity is one of the hottest topics out there, he says, and government agencies are eager to hire new, skilled security personnel at a moment in time when government agencies are being challenged by outside attackers and inside breaches.
In a recent interview, David Foote of Foote Partners, an IT staffing research firm, told Field: "This year and next year, bar none, security is the smart place to be in IT."
