There are plenty of tech terms that are dinosaurs--throwbacks to the early years of the Internet. Your staff probably doesn't even now them, and if you used them you could become the laughingstock of the office.

Business Week put together a list of 12 outdated tech terms that you shouldn't use at work. They will make you seem outdated and not up with the times. Among them:

  • Intranet: Call it a private network.
  • Web surfing: Try browsing.
  • World Wide Web: Hey, it's just the Internet.

Nothing dates you more than using the wrong word. You wouldn't send a telegram, would you? Or go to a pay phone? Or even send something by snail mail when the Internet is available.

Just wait a few years and many of today's current terms will be gone, too. One of them just may be email.
