10 data storage companies to watch
The data storage market is growing, innovating and seeking to meet the demands of industry. Network World reports that there are a number of start-ups targeting flash drives, cloud storage and disaster recovery, and it has highlighted information about 10 data such firms it says are worth watching.
One company, Atrato, in Westminster, CO, offers "fast, high-density storage that should prove useful for high-performance computing and delivery of digital entertainment.''
Another firm, 4Blox in San Jose, CA., has technology that reduces the CPU processing power demanded by the iSCSI protocol. Fusion-io of Salt Lake City uses a PCIe flash storage card that's inserted directly into servers, and promises a great price/performance ratio.
Then there's Nirvanix of San Diego that has a cloud storage platform providing highly scalable storage capacity over the Web, optimized for digital media and large files. Other companies on the list include Ocarina Networks, Parascale, Pliant, greenBytes and Storspeed and Axxaba.
