CERRITOS (January 26, 2010) Plustek Technology Inc. (www.plustek.com/usa) [1], a manufacturer of consumer, prosumer, professional and office imaging devices (including portable scanners, sheet fed/flatbed scanners, wide format scanners and IP cameras), is pleased to offer a complete line of scanner solutions to fulfill nearly any educational environment. Plustek provides educators and school administrators with many alternatives for scanning documents and creating electronic copies of paper and film. From administration offices to classrooms, Plustek has a tool to get the job done quickly and affordably.
Plustek scanners are designed for the rigors of the educational environment and allow users to easily create digital copies of paper documents and books. Single touch scanning converts the documents to digital formats such as: PDF, JPG, TIF, RTF, DOC, XLS and then: email, save to pc, save to flash or portable hard drives, or even print the digital copies with the simple touch of a button.
Plustek's MobileOffice and SmartOffice scanners allow administration and district offices to easily save general business documents as PDFs and digitize student records to comply with FERPA. The SmartOffice PS282, a compact, high-speed desktop scanning solution, effortlessly converts paper into digital files, making inputting documents to student information systems quick and easy. The MobileOffice D428 scanner, at only 4x12 inches, provides a scanning speed of 2.2 seconds per page (28-ppm) and scans any media up to the thickness of a credit card making it perfect for creating electronic records and copies of student ID cards, health clearance forms, student medication forms/cards, permission slips, and accident reports, which can be emailed to the appropriate administration.
The BookReader V100 is a unique scanner that converts a printed page or book into an audio file. Applications for this scanner include; assistance for visually impaired students and faculty, special education classrooms, resource rooms and reading assistance classes. Books, periodicals and any printed documents are easily converted to many popular audio files including MP3 and WAV. In addition, a high contrast display mode is provided to assist the visually impaired.
Plustek also offers a range of Book Scanners that are perfect for libraries, including the OpticBook A300 that can scan a book or document and present the content immediately onto a computer screen to review, print, archive and/or email. Plustek's SEE Technology (Shadow Elimination Element) combines a patent-pending illumination system with a special edge design that allows the scanning module to scan right up to the document's spine. Library administration can archive historical books and bound materials, while students may create PDFs from books, newspapers and other documents instead of duplicating pages with a copier.
Plustek also manufactures scanners that benefit art and photography classes. The OptiPro A320 and A360 are A3-size graphic scanners that can quickly convert art or classroom projects into digital format for archiving or uploading to websites. The OpticFilm 7600i SE and OpticFilm 7600i Ai film and slide scanners may be used in photography classrooms to digitize film for editing and presentation.
