Flaw found in McAfee Linux antivirus software

If you're running McAfee's VirusScan Command Line Scanner Antivirus software, be aware that there's a vulnerability that could let hackers inside of your system. The vulnerability, which impacts VirusScan 4510e and older versions, is used to target shared library files within the Linux environment. A security vendor has rated the flaw as having a "high" degree of vulnerability, though other security experts have termed it as a "moderate" threat. For its part, Symantec said Friday that it's working on a patch but doesn't consider the flaw to be extremely serious. Symantec noted in a published report that the researcher who discovered the issue should have waited a bit longer before going public, so that the vendor could have a fix ready.
