Japan demands answers to laptop battery issue

It's becoming increasingly clear that the debacle of the flaming laptop battery isn't likely to sputter out anytime soon. Japan now wants Dell and Sony to investigate what exactly is causing the battery issue and wants to know what the two vendors plan to do to ensure that such problems never arise again. Dell seems to be suffering most of the fallout from the recall so far, despite the fact that the batteries were actually manufactured by Sony. However, Sony's time in the spotlight will likely come soon as it has admitted that the battery is also powering [1] other devices, though it has declined to state which ones. At this point, no recall has been issued for any other products.
