Syncplicity for Android delivers easy file access, sharing, and cloud back-up for Kindle Fire

MENLO PARK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Syncplicity, a leader in cloud based file management solutions for businesses and individuals, today announced the immediate availability of Syncplicity for Android, which brings a compelling and native file access, sharing and cloud backup app to the Amazon Kindle Fire. With Syncplicity, Kindle Fire users can immediately personalize their device by gaining universal and automatic access to all their documents, files and folders, whether stored on their PCs, Macs, in Google Docs, or file servers like SharePoint at work. Syncplicity provides unparalleled convenience and protection because users do not have to think ahead about moving or storing files from where they already keep them to gain universal ad hoc mobile access. There is no need to drag and drop a file from where it is stored already into a new cloud “box” to gain mobile access to it from Kindle Fire, other Android devices, iPads or iPhones.

With Syncplicity, users easily access, share and edit any of their files from Kindle Fire, no matter what computer they previously saved them on. Files edited on Kindle Fire are seamlessly uploaded back to the cloud so that they are backed-up and immediately synced across other computers and cloud applications like Google, and available on any other mobile device the user has. This feature ensures that the most current file version is always available, no matter where they last saved it or where they are now accessing it from. Syncplicity continues its drive to provide unique and exceptional security features, including the ability to remote wipe files from mobile devices, and client-side data encryption for files on Kindle Fire. Syncplicity uses Amazon Web Services for its cloud-based storage, ensuring SAS 70 Type II Compliance and military-grade encryption for security, along with 99.9999999 percent data durability to help protect a user’s data from loss.

“Kindle Fire will be extremely popular in the market,” said Jeff Schultz, Chief Marketing Officer at Syncplicity. “We want to bring all the rich file access and sharing capabilities that Syncplicity offers to Kindle Fire customers. By giving users an easy way to access, share and edit all their files and folders directly and immediately from their Kindle Fire devices, we aim to help them personalize their devices out of the box and instantly make the Kindle Fire a high impact tool at work.”

Key Syncplicity for Android Features

Syncplicity for Android works on Kindle Fire and Android 2.1 and above phones and tablets. It allows mobile users to access, create, delete, view, download, share and upload files on their Kindle Fire, with changes available immediately on all of the other computers, mobile devices, cloud applications such as Google Docs and Google Apps that a user has in their Syncplicity Virtual Private Cloud. Key features include:

Flexibility

  • Users gain automatic and ubiquitous access to all their files and folders from Kindle Fire, without having to “check them in” to a cloud box or move them manually
  • Users can share files of unlimited size with others, both with or without Syncplicity accounts, directly from their Kindle Fire without needing access to their computers, either directly or through a VPN

Productivity

  • Users can use 3rd party apps on Kindle Fire to open, edit and save files in Syncplicity – backed by Amazon Web Services. Changes are then pushed to a user’s Virtual Private Cloud and are then available on their other computers, devices, on-premise file servers and cloud apps such as Google Docs, SharePoint and Salesforce.
  • Users can create new content and move it to Syncplicity through support of the native Android File System, built in Camera and Media, background file transfers and SD card support
  • Syncplicity optimizes device performance, data plan usage and battery life by accessing files and folders from the cloud, but also provides offline access to previously downloaded files
  • Users can view a Newsfeed of events to see what activity has been happening in their Virtual Private Cloud, including their updates and updates from users who have shared files and folders. Newsfeed filtering allows them to quickly narrow down to only events that are important to them.

Security and Control

  • Users and IT Administrators can remotely wipe downloaded files and credentials if a device is lost or stolen
  • All cached files stored encrypted at rest with enterprise-grade AES-256 encryption
  • Syncplicity Business Edition offers organizational controls, permissions and policies set by administrators. These are enforced in Syncplicity – extending control, information security and corporate data compliance to employee’s mobile devices

Cost and Availability

Syncplicity for Android, which runs natively on Kindle Fire, is available free of charge from the Amazon App Store. Existing Syncplicity users can log in to their My Syncplicity account with their current credentials and download the app free.

New Syncplicity users have three options: Register for a free 30-day Syncplicity Business Edition trial account, sign up for a one-user free Syncplicity account, or sign up for a Syncplicity Personal Edition account. All three include Syncplicity for Kindle Fire for free. Users can sign up for any Syncplicity account directly from within Syncplicity for Android, or at www.syncplicity.com.
