Survey: 83% of Small to Mid-Sized Businesses Don’t Scan Behind Their Firewalls

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- nCircle, the leading provider of automated security and compliance auditing solutions, today announced the results of a security survey of 143 professionals responsible for IT security in small to mid-sized businesses.

The survey was conducted between November 14, 2011 and November 26, 2011 to better understand the security and compliance issues that have the greatest impact on smaller businesses. Respondents were asked, “Does your business routinely scan your entire network for security risks, including devices that are behind the firewall?” The majority of respondents – 66% - said they only run security scans of internet facing devices. An additional 17% of respondents indicated they would like scan behind their firewalls but that it was too difficult to change firewall rules.
