As the first application of its kind that allows candidates to apply for jobs directly through the app, the new Sodexo Jobs application allows users to immerse themselves in the company's culture and directly connect with recruiters as they conduct their job search. Developing this app was a direct response to the changing mobile landscape as Americans are increasingly using mobile devices to obtain information, complete transactions and connect with others. In fact, Nielsen and Walker Sands studies show that a majority of 18-34 year olds own a smartphone, 62 percent of smartphone users download apps, and website traffic generated by mobile devices increased 102 percent this past year. Further segmenting the data, the Pew Internet Research finds a high mobile web usage rate among minority populations.
As mobile technology continues to transform the way businesses reach consumers, we are also seeing that 77 percent of job seekers are using mobile apps to look for jobs (Beyond.com study).
