NVIDIA, Bright Computing, and University of Toronto join NextIO in talks on GPU Computing in HPC during Birds of a Feather and Exhibitor Forum sessions

AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- NextIO, the premier provider of next-generation I/O consolidation and virtualization solutions, today announced that the company will join NVIDIA, Bright Computing, and the University of Toronto in two educational sessions on GPU consolidation in high-performance computing (HPC) at International Supercomputing (ISC) 2011, Wednesday, June 22. NextIO will also showcase their latest vCORE™ Express technology.

As a part of ISC’s Birds of a Feather sessions, where attendees can present and share common HPC interests, NextIO has teamed up with NVIDIA and Bright Computing to present “GPUs: Trendy Technology or Serious Computing?” on Wednesday, June 22 at 4 p.m. Duncan Poole, Senior Manager at NVIDIA; Jeff Norris, Vice President of Business Development at Bright Computing; and Bob Shaw, Director of Customer Support at NextIO will:

  • Share lessons in deriving maximum value from GPUs in HPC
  • Invite participants to explore and debate the merits of GPU computing, including lessons on maximizing value in HPC and effectively managing complex clusters comprising both traditional CPUs and GPUs
  • Present several HPC case studies to illustrate contrasting compute scenarios

Professor Clinton Groth, Ph.D of the University of Toronto will present “NextIO vCORE Express: A Platform for High-Performance Scientific Computing Research Using Heterogeneous Multi-Processor Systems at SciNet” during the ISC Exhibitors Forum, Wednesday, June 22 at 12:10 pm.

At ISC, NextIO will showcase their latest vCORE™ Express GPU computing solutions, based on the NVIDIA® Tesla™ 20-series GPUs and designed for the most demanding HPC applications. The NextIO vCORE Express enables customers to run GPUs outside of their servers, providing denser server configurations, easier lifecycle management and a lower overall cost of ownership.

“At ISC 2011, we’ll continue to highlight our leadership in engineering GPU consolidation appliances and innovative HPC solutions,” said Brooks Ivey, Vice President of Business Development and OEM sales at NextIO. “We’re proud to be working with ground-breaking researchers like Professor Groth and highly successful HPC innovators like NVIDIA and Bright Computing to bring valuable knowledge and shared experiences to fellow ISC attendees.”

About NextIO

NextIO provides rack-level IO consolidation and virtualization solutions that maximize performance, productivity and efficiencies of complex server IO. Our innovative architecture is based upon industry standard PCIe switching technology. By separating the compute from the IO we create pools of server IO resources at the rack level that can be shared, virtualized or dynamically allocated across servers within the rack. Data center managers benefit from lower TCO and increased time to revenue. NextIO solutions address data center requirements across multiple industry segments including: Enterprise, Oil & Gas, High Performance Computing, Financial Services, and Government.
