New Access Control Procedures for Vendors, Suppliers, Service Providers and Contractors

POINT MUGU, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Naval Base Ventura County (NBVC) is further increasing security procedures for vendors, suppliers, service providers and contractors who access the installation. Just over a year ago, NBVC proactively pursued increased security procedures and streamlined installation access by implementing the RAPIDGate® Program from Eid Passport. The program is now part of a Navy initiative to streamline access due to recent changes in Department of Defense (DoD) and Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC) security directives requiring the implementation of tighter security requirements.

Effective August 01, 2010 NBVC Contractor Badges will no longer be issued by the installation and after October 01, 2010 existing issued badges will no longer be accepted for access. Any vendor, supplier, service provider or contractor who chooses not to enroll their company and register their employees for the RAPIDGate Program will be required to obtain a daily pass and will have limited access to the installation through the Victoria Gate (Port Hueneme) and the Las Posas Gate (Point Mugu). In addition, non-RAPIDGate participants will be subject to 100% vehicle inspection during each access with delays expected.

The RAPIDGate Program provides a year-long access credential after participants pass a background screening process and are approved by the installation. Credentials are electronically scanned and verified by security personnel in a matter of a few seconds, streamlining access to the installation.

“After twelve months of demonstrating the RAPIDGate Program’s ability to effectively increase security and streamline access control procedures at Naval Base Ventura County, we were pleased to be selected to streamline security at Navy installations across the Continental U.S.,” said Eid Passport CEO Steve Larson. “Naval Base Ventura County has helped lead the way to further secure our nation.”

Companies who wish to sign up for the RAPIDGate Program or who are already enrolled at another installation and wish to receive access approval at NBVC may contact 1-877-RAPIDGate (1-877-727-4342) or visit www.RAPIDGate.com to learn more about the program.

About the RAPIDGate Program

The RAPIDGate Program (www.RAPIDGate.com) provides a voluntary identity and access management solution for vendor, supplier, contractor and subcontractor personnel who enter secure facilities. It provides multiple layers of physical security checks including: validation of employment status, identity authentication, background screening, biometric verification and entry authorization verification. Access control personnel can process RAPIDGate credential-holders in seconds, which improves gate efficiency, saves companies time and money, and improves customer satisfaction. One RAPIDGate credential may be used to request access to multiple participating installations for even greater convenience, efficiency and return on investment. The RAPIDGate Program already serves thousands of companies and tens of thousands of RAPIDGate credential-holders who enjoy streamlined access into Department of Defense, Department of Homeland Security and National Aeronautics and Space Administration facilities across the continental U.S. and Hawaii. The RAPIDGate Program contains products and services subject to U.S. Patent No. 6,779,721 and 7,631,805.
