Mycroft CMO Butwin Mann to Be Featured Panelist on Security and Cloud Computing Webcast
Security and Cloud Computing – Can They Truly Co-Exist hosted by CA Technologies
NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Elizabeth Butwin Mann, Chief Marketing and Business Development Officer at Mycroft Inc., will be a featured panelist for Security and Cloud Computing – Can They Truly Co-Exist, a webcast sponsored by CA Technologies as part of its Smart Enterprise Exchange series. The webcast will be broadcast live on www.SmartEnterpriseExchange.com.
This is a follow up to a similarly themed panel discussion, also including Butwin Mann, which took place on March 1 at the American Museum of Natural History. The initial panel discussion proved so popular that a follow up webcast was scheduled, including many of the same panelists.
The initial panel discussion assembled CIOs and senior IT executives responsible for establishing and overseeing policies designed to protect enterprise data and prevent breaches in a cloud environment. In addition to Butwin Mann, other panelists included Timothy Chou, author of “Cloud: Seven Clear Business Models,” and senior security officers from CA Technologies, Emcor Group, the Hay Group, Liberty Mutual, Reed Elsevor Tech Services and Time Warner. Brian Gillooly, editor-in-chief of Information Week, moderated the panel discussion.
Among her comments, Butwin Mann suggested that more organizations should consider evolving the CIO role to include a “Chief Services Officer” function, focused on providing cloud options. Such an executive, she noted, could make it as easy for users to get services “as using a credit card on Amazon, but still…exert some appropriate business and security controls.”
Butwin Mann said enterprises should view themselves as internal managed services providers – adding that this can be accomplished only through a more open environment in which organizations “speak with business users about their needs,” while making clear that “security can’t be avoided.”
