Leading Mobile Messaging and Advertising Company Helps Carriers Deliver Usage Alerts to the Most Viewed Real Estate in Mobile, the Homescreen

MCLEAN, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- With the explosive consumption of music, movies, messaging and calling across a growing number of popular mobile phones and tablet devices -- alerting consumers to usage limits is top-of-mind. For carriers, it’s about protecting loyal subscribers while reducing churn and customer service costs. For subscribers, it’s about relying on their carrier to guide them towards better management of their wireless usage and fees. As a result, Mobile Posse® -- who works with America’s top wireless carriers, including Verizon Wireless, MetroPCS and US Cellular -- today launched MobiAlerts; a new service that proactively addresses the FCC’s and CTIA’s call for carriers to provide alerts when subscribers approach and then exceed their limits on voice, data, texting, or roaming.

“Carriers only have about 12 months to deliver verifiable alerts. We have been tracking the best practice suggestions for some time and now that the recommendations are official, we are launching MobiAlerts. It’s the only service that lets carriers proactively push alerts to subscribers before thresholds are reached, guarantee delivery with a timestamp from when they received and clicked on it, and optionally, provide an upsell opportunity,” said Jon Jackson, CEO of Mobile Posse. “We’re happy to support the CTIA, the FCC, and the carriers the in their efforts to protect subscribers by enabling carriers to deliver usage alerts directly to the homescreen.”

Voice & SMS Alerts are Not 100% Successful

Carriers have choices in how to deliver usage alerts. Some simple rules apply, they must be free and automatic. Delivery via SMS is easily missed since the platform was really designed for peer to peer messaging. Quite often finding messages is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. A subscriber may not see the SMS notification and would then be surprised by the overage and may call into the call center to request a credit – An expensive waste of time for both the carrier and the consumer. Neither voice nor SMS alerts are 100% trackable and verifiable upon receipt, missing the boat on a critical element for making this initiative a success for both parties..
