Start-Up Launches Secure Free Service that Stores Email and Paper Receipts in the Cloud to Help You Eliminate Clutter, Manage Expenses and Spend Smarter

PALO ALTO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Palo Alto-based Lemon™ launched today, providing a new way to organize receipts and manage expenses. Lemon offers consumers and businesses an innovative, easy way to cut the clutter, save some trees and even save money by storing and organizing all their purchase receipts in the cloud.

With Lemon, it’s easy to keep track of all your purchases from any merchant—both paper and email receipts—all in one place for quick and easy access. Just snap a picture of paper receipts with your mobile device, and the Lemon mobile app digitizes the data and uploads it directly to your own secure account. Or, take advantage of the growing e-receipts trend by having digital receipts from any retailer sent directly to your Lemon account with your own personalized @lemon.com address.

Refreshing Solution to a Common Problem

Everyone shops, and the average American receives up to three receipts per day. That amounts to over 300 billion annoying little slips of crumpled-up paper generated each year. Lemon puts an end to the mountain of paper and is ideal for business travelers, heads of households, busy moms and small business owners—virtually anyone who wants to keep track of their purchases without complicated spreadsheets or expensive financial software and budgeting tools.

“These days, everyone is looking to curb spending, and we all hate paper clutter,” said Lemon co-Founder Wences Casares. “Stuffing all your receipts into a shoebox is no way to take control of your finances. Many merchants are moving to email receipts to help save paper, but even this often results in a deluge of spam that just clutters your inbox. Lemon eliminates these hassles with a simple way to get organized, track spending, manage expenses and save money.”

Beyond just storing receipts for safekeeping, Lemon squeezes out all the juicy details they contain to help you stay organized, see where your money goes and save some cash along the way. Lemon extracts data from each receipt down to the product-level detail to generate insightful reports and graphs that illustrate spending trends, make it easy to prepare for tax time or submit expense reports.

How it Works

Every Lemon user gets a free @lemon.com address. Just give this address to merchants and have your email receipts sent directly to your Lemon account or you can forward them. Lemon will prioritize each merchant message to catalog receipts and weed out merchant spam.

For paper receipts, just snap a picture of the receipt with any iPhone or Android smartphone and the Lemon mobile app automatically digitizes the data and catalogs it into your personal receipt library. BlackBerry and Windows versions are coming soon.

Need to make a return? Simply log into your Lemon account, search for the receipt you need and either show it to the merchant on your smartphone, or print out a copy to take to the store.

Tired of manually typing all of those receipts into your expense report? With Lemon, just take a picture of each one with your smartphone. Lemon converts the images into data that can be easily merged into expense reporting tools.

Founded by a group of successful, international pioneers in the financial and payment technologies industries, Lemon is supported by a highly secure infrastructure.

To sign up for a free Lemon account and start keeping track of your receipts and purchases, go to www.lemon.com, or download the free mobile apps from the Apple iTunes store, Android Market, and the BlackBerry AppWorld store.
