Manufacturing Execution System (MES) provider and Fujitsu launch a solution for SMEs

DERNBACH, Germany--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- iTAC Software AG (www.itacsoftware.com) and Fujitsu Technology Solutions have gone live with the first cloud-based MES operated on a central MES IT infrastructure. The central IT infrastructure is located Fujitsu’s data centre. In the first step, iTAC has provided a central solution for customer test systems. These can now be used by all participating OEMs and integrators for their global roll-outs of the iTAC.MES.Suite 7. From January 2012 onwards it will also be possible to operate live systems on the MES data centre infrastructure. This offer will initially be geared to small and medium-sized enterprises (SME).

Three iTAC customers are already using these test systems in the first phase of iTAC and Fujitsu’s new cloud-based MES initiative. The MES infrastructure for the central operation of live iTAC.MES.Suite 7 systems will be ready in January 2012. Dieter Meuser,iTAC’s CTO, explained why his company decided to develop a cloud-based MES: “OEM compliance requirements across the entire supply chain are now also affecting SMEs, causing many of them to consider introducing MES/traceability systems, so we developed an SME-oriented MES package in collaboration with our partner Fujitsu. We are the world’s first providers and co-marketers of a fully functional central manufacturing execution system infrastructure.“

Fujitsu and iTAC generate USP with cloud-based MES

Fujitsu is the IaaS provider in the partnership, with responsibility for the central operation of the MES hardware, operating and WAN systems, while iTAC provides application and database support services in respect of the central MES infrastructure components. All the SMEs need to use the infrastructure is internet access in the production facility.

Dieter Meuser forecasts, “Our cloud-based MES product is likely to appeal to many SME suppliers of electronic and mechatronic components to the automotive and medical technology sectors. These components are subject to much tougher statutory provisions on product liability, making an MES of central importance to the suppliers. Our system provides them with the tool that they need to remain competitive.“
