iQuate Warns of Confusion in SAP Oracle User Base
SAP Purchase of Sybase to Change face of Database Licensing?
DUBLIN--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- iQuate, the IT discovery tool vendor, today issued a warning that the recent announcement of SAP’s acquisition of Sybase is likely to have major consequences to the majority of the SAP user base that currently uses Oracle.
“We are already aware of anecdotal evidence that existing customers using SAP on Oracle are concerned about the announcement,” said Pat Durkin, CEO iQuate. “Based on previous acquisitions of this kind, we can expect to see SAP seek to maximise their investment by starting a concerted effort to replace Oracle with Sybase not only as the underlying database for SAP, but also more widely across their customers’ IT environments.”
He added, “Whenever one vendor acquires another there will inevitably be changes in licensing policy, metrics and pricing and I fully expect this to be the case in this instance as SAP attempt to make Sybase an attractive alternative to Oracle. In these circumstances, it is essential that customers have a fully up-to-date and totally accurate view of their license position.”
iQuate’s flagship product, iQSonar: Oracle Edition equips SAP and Oracle customers with the deployment information they need as the foundation for informed purchasing decisions. By being able to rapidly identify all Oracle instances across even the most complex of networks, iQuate provides customers with a constantly updated picture of Oracle deployment that will help them maintain compliance and ensure that potential future license negotiations with SAP are in their own best interest and not that of the vendor.
