LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) today announces that its 2011 Electric Vehicles seminar will be run simultaneously as a virtual event so that delegates from all over the world can participate from their desks. The new virtual events option is designed to allow a more global audience at the event by removing obstacles associated with travel costs and time out of the office.

The Electric Vehicles Focus Day will look at technology, policy, standards, enhanced grid infrastructure, charging, standards, smart grid, EV-grid business models, case studies, battery technology and the roadmap for advancing commercialisation of EVs. The event takes place on 2 June 2011 immediately after the Smart Grid 2011 conference, which it is linked to. Technologists involved in the intersection of smart grids and electric vehicles will find this event particularly useful.

Virtual event delegates will be able to fully participate in the conference, choosing to view and interact with the presentations they want in the format they choose. Virtual delegates will receive:

  • Live access to all conference presentations, including Q&A sessions
  • The opportunity to pose questions to speakers via the live chatroom
  • Access to on-demand viewing of all presentations and speaker slides post-event
  • Access to the online networking forum where they will be able to meet other attendees and speakers online

Mark Venables, Engineering Editor of Engineering & Technology Magazine, commented, “Electric vehicles are becoming a key business and environmental issue in many developed nations, so it is important to get a true global perspective on the technology issues in this area. Allowing delegates to fully participate in the event virtually will hopefully attract attendees from all corners of the globe who otherwise would not be able to attend.”

Delegates can attend the full day seminar virtually at a cost of £319 for members, £399 for non-members and £120 for students. Further details and virtual event registration are available from http://conferences.theiet.org/electricvehicles/virtual/index.cfm.
