Identity Theft 911 Chief Information Security Officer Speaks on Data Breach and Forensic Investigations at RSA Conference
Data breach, identity theft protection and cybercrime expert Ondrej Krehel will share forensic and cyber detection tactics for data breach investigations at the 2011 RSA Conference, the premier computer security industry event. Krehel will discuss digital forensic methods, breach notification, security incident response, new hacker approaches and system planning for evolving threats.
SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Identity Theft 911 Chief Information Security Officer Ondrej Krehel will be a featured speaker presenting “Forensic Investigations of Data Breaches” at the 2011 RSA Conference, the world’s leading IT security industry event, on February 17, 2011, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.
Data breach costs reached an all-time high of $68 per record compromised in 2009, and associated lost business jumped nearly 47 percent to $204 per record, according to the Ponemon Institute. Solera Networks and United Trust Strategies found that 35 percent of large businesses have had “a significant security incident within the last three years” and that 82 percent expect a similar incident in the next three years.
“Information security and incident response require a multilayer approach,” said Krehel. “Forensic techniques maximize intelligence gathering post-incident and can dramatically help plan the design and architecture of future security systems.”
Krehel’s presentation will focus on the art and science of forensic investigation and resolution of data breaches caused by hacker attack, including environments actively under attack. Technology elements such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, network forensic kits, event management collections, anti-malware and antivirus practices often do not generate sufficient intelligence on data risk threats and vulnerabilities. Krehel will discuss how to detect new threats and how to make accurate assessments of a company’s ability to detect and remediate malicious intrusions. The emphasis will be on a multilayer approach to information security and incident response. Different types of forensic artifacts and collection process timing will be discussed.
Ondrej Krehel brings more than a decade of experience in computer forensics to the information security management team that helps businesses and individuals secure their data. At home and abroad, he has led investigations into a range of IT security matters, including hacker attacks, data breaches, intellectual property theft and other nefarious computer crimes. He is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) and a Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH). His work has received attention from CNN, Reuters, The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times. Meet Krehel and other Identity Theft 911 experts, including Matt Cullina, Chief Executive Officer, and Brian McGinley, Senior Vice President of Data Risk Management, at booth 229.
RSA Conference 2011 marks the 20th anniversary of one of the largest IT security events worldwide. RSA Conference is helping drive the information security agenda worldwide with annual industry events in the U.S., Europe and Japan. Throughout its history, RSA Conference has consistently attracted the world’s best and brightest in the field, creating opportunities for conference attendees to learn about IT security’s most important issues through firsthand interactions with peers, luminaries and emerging and established companies.
