Hyve Solutions Series 8 to Bring High Performance, Scale-out Big Data Appliances to Large-Scale Datacenters

FREMONT, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Hyve Solutions, a division of SYNNEX Corporation (NYSE: SNX), a leading distributor of IT products and services, today announced the launch of the Hyve Solutions Series 8 high performance Hadoop computing platform for Enterprise Big Data. Working with technology partners Arista Networks, Fusion-io, Solarflare Communications and Zettaset, the Hyve Solutions Series 8 offers enterprise customers a fully-integrated solution that can be sized to current workloads and easily scaled to meet future demands.

The platform has been certified by all participating vendors, making it easy to deploy and accelerate enterprise customers’ time to realize the return on their investment. By offering customers a comprehensive solution, the Hyve Solutions Series 8 platform delivers a robust Big Data appliance to acquire, organize and maximize the value of their data.

The Hyve Solutions Series 8 appliance features an elegant user interface by Zettaset that streamlines use and manageability and has safeguards that provide service management, failover and restart as well as alerting and monitoring features required by enterprise customers.

Benchmarking test results achieved in October 2011 show that a 5-node cluster completed a 1TB Terasort workload in 30 minutes, 16 seconds. The same 5-node cluster scaled linearly, completing a 4TB Terasort workload in 1 hour, 59 minutes and 11 seconds.

Flash-based ioMemory from Fusion-io drives the massive I/O required for the solution. Each node includes three 1.28TB Fusion ioDrive Duos. Hyve Solutions Series 8 appliance platform initially has three shipping configurations:

2-node starter kit (7.2TB)
Full rack (72TB)
Individual 2U expansion nodes (3.6TB)

Networking, compute, storage, software and support are included pre-configured with each SKU. Pricing and product availability will be in place by early December 2011 with first shipments of the built-to-order systems beginning in January 2012.
